What is the campground like?
The Little Egypt Christian Youth Campgrounds cover twenty acres of wooded and open grassy countryside. There are two lakes on the property where campers can boat or fish. The signature building on site is the large A-frame dining hall. The girls cabin is upstairs in this building as well and includes two bath facilities. Four other cabins are tucked away in the woods around the campgrounds Bath facilities are inside or near each of all the cabins.
Outside the A-frame, overlooking the lake, are the shuffleboard court and ball field. And up hill by the pond is the playground, with swings, a merry-go-round and a volleyball court.
Recently, we've added a cross on the hillside across the lake. It is a constant reminder of the focus of this work and provides a beautiful backdrop to some inspiring devotionals at sunset. Across the lake is "the point", the long-standing site for camp devotionals that provides a beautiful look at the reflection of the A-Frame in the lake at night. It's a quiet corner of the campgrounds that often serves as "the point" of some life changing decisions for many campers.
The newest structure on site is the chapel and activity building. It houses an all-weather chapel, with panoramic windows overlooking the lake. In warm weather, they are opened to create the feel of an outdoor chapel. This building also houses the indoor game room and canteen.
Each season brings a different beauty to Little Egypt. From spring blossoms to the summer sunsets to the vibrant colors of fall, even the stillness of lakes in winter all remind us of God's power and beauty. It is this wonderful environment that serves as a canvas to the spiritual growth we strive to instill in all of the campers at Little Egypt.
